K. S. Chari
1967 India 21 minutes undetermined

Transition is the first solo directorial venture by K.S. Chari, and is part of the series of films that belonged to the state-run Films Division’s brief Golden Age in the late 60’s, when individual filmmakers were given a free rein to explore different facets of Indian society and social problems, in particular. “Is India an awakening giant or a colossus in a trauma? But the answer must wait and the ferment taken in stride in a time of transition. The clarification really belongs to the future. but there is room only for hope.” (K.S. Chari, 1967)
