November 1990, in a gymnasium in Istanbul. “Judges of this tribunal, my story is that of torture and of crimes committed on behalf of so- called justice.” These are the sentences opening the defence speech for the thirty-six militants charged with illegal political activities and who have already spent ten years in jail. Some 1243 prisoners are now being tried. Outside the gymnasium, a crowd supporting the prisoners tries to force its way into the court room. The crew took high risks in filming from as close as possible the events in order to prove that human rights are not always respected in Turkey.
