A product of Man’s age-old struggle against nature, the Polders are stretches of land that have been reclaimed from the sea. The sight of them can create a state of deep meditation, as no other landscape in the world better reveals the marriage of earth, water and sky. The poet Gaston Compère escorts us on an exploration of these magical, highly evocative spots, which are true landscapes of the soul. These places have been permeated, marked forever by his poetry and by a wooden boat which, throughout the film, represents the author’s alter ego. Yet this land has also been reclaimed in order to produce, it must produce, even though…’
