“October 1998: I am writing the scenario of a future film. Rain is falling on the window pane. My grandfather who disappeared under the Japanese occupation for having swallowed gold. My grandmother plodding through the mountainous countryside of her childhood and through the landscapes of the life she shared with he “who was never seen again”. “Exiled” friends undecided whether to stay or leave. The son of a Chinese man exiled in France, taken on to participate in the Great War effort. An inextricable story which unfolds in a multiplicity of times and places.” (HSIAO Mei-Ling)
