“With my companion and my 5-year-old daughter Mathilde, I moved into a small house hidden behind an old Parisian block of flats between the Belleville and Ménilmontant districts. The 8-year-old Fatimatou and her 6-year-old brother Ibrahima, of Guinean origin, live in this building and became Mathilde’s best friends. This is a friendship that I wanted to portray, as it has helped give me a better understanding of childhood and its imaginary world. Their childhood, but my own too” (Frédéric Touchard)
