Trapped by poverty, Petya and Kyril volunteered to go to Chechnya. Katya, a nurse, worked in a country hospital in the combat zone. After their return, neither of them are the same. They are physically and mentally broken and alone with their experiences of mutilations, torture and death. The filmmakers show them some photos of Chechyn prisoners. On one, a woman turns her face towards the camera. Who is she? What has become of her? The photo brings back a rush of memories, fears and hidden pain. Finally, the inquiry finds the answer and the woman’s story is told. The horror of this dirty war takes on a face and flesh.
