Known for its inclusion of the final minutes of Voodoo Macbeth, a “strange and magnificent show” (Jean Cocteau) directed by Orson Welles in Harlem, this “film-inventory” is also noteworthy for its portrayal of the crisis and the New Deal’s effort to create employment, be it workmen or musicians, for the African Americans who were the hardest hit community.
