Claire Simon
2013 France 120 minutes French

An opportunity to discuss, in the presence of Claire Simon, the potential that this format holds for filmmaking and film diffusion. The filmmaker has turned this place into a documentary (Géographie humaine), a feature film (Gare du Nord) and the webdoc.

“After a lengthy immersion in the Gare du Nord spent collecting stories and dialogues, I realised that one could imagine a film specifically designed for the Web, a digital scene that is able, through its arborescence, its fragments, it pages, like waves always different, to draw the portrait of a global France that crosses daily through the station, a human universe that is suspended for a moment, before or after a train, metro, RER. For me, this station is the largest public square in France and probably Europe, and this is what makes it a concrete incarnation of the Web.”
