Todo comenzó por el fin

It All Started at the End
Tout a commencé par la fin
Luis Ospina
2015 Colombia 208 minutes Spanish

If it all started at the end… it is to better revisit the beginnings. Those of the first images of Luis Ospina, filmed as a child with his father’s camera. Particularly those of the Cali Group (El Grupo Cali), an artistic creation and diffusion collective named after the city where it was founded in the early 1970s, to which the Colombian filmmaker belonged. A utopia of community life as much as a collective creation, the group created bubbling excitement on the alternative music, literary, arts and film scene documented by the film. Confined to a hospital bed due to his duodenal cancer, Ospina structured the collage of assorted images. Using excerpts from his own films and those of other group members, filmed interviews of the present or rare archives, he constructs a family film that was also to be one about his generation.
