Sylvestre Meinzer

Sylvestre Meinzer is an ethnologist, film director and photographer. After working in costume and scenography, she collaborated with the Mission du Patrimoine Ethnographique and joined the Laboratoire d’Ethnologie Urbaine of the CNRS in Ivry. Since her training at the Ateliers Varan and at the Gobelins school, she has been practicing documentary cinema and experimental photography. She has directed numerous films for museums (Au service des nuages, at the André Malraux du Havre), for television (Pour un panier de truffes, Arte), for cinema (Mémoires d’un condamné) and participated in several exhibitions. She directs artistic workshops with disabled people (pediatric hospitals, retirement homes, prison…) within the framework of the association Les Impatients that she created.
