Almadrabas, la pesca del atún en Isla Cristina

Tuna-fishing off the Cadix coast using almadrabas, traditional nets laid out by the fishermen. The film follows the processes for transforming the catch, preserving and distributing it. This is Velo’s only short film to have survived in its entirety. On Federico garcía Lorca’s advice, and without relinquishing some Schumann excerpts, he contacted a guitar maestro and “paralysed by fear, married the film’s images to the guitar chords”.
