A “charity restaurant” in Quebec. Like a herald adressing a group of louts, Annie Vidal takes us on a tour of Montreal, to meet the hawkers of Rue Ontario, to listen to stories of “shipwrecked dreamers”. This is not from the Middle Ages, nor is it an invention; it is the story of the people who live in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood. Tourists are never told about this area, they are usually directed to more sophisticated spots in the city. The story could be sad but it is just simply true, punctuated by laughter and songs from the real heroes of the film, the employees of Resto Pop.” (Marie-Thérèse Duval)
