Betondorp, a garden village on the outskirts of Amsterdam, was created to give people, workers, a better chance in life. Influenced by “De Stijl” farsighted architects as Greiner, Van Loghem, Gratama and their colleagues created a village as a new conception which was to inspire architects such as Le Corbusier, Gropius… Sixty years later, the film-maker, born himself in Betondorp, returns to see the village restored as well as to follow what happened to those for whom the village was created: did they become “a new breed of persons with a broader view and a new conception of life ?”
