Ceux de Saladillo

Fabio Junco and Julio Midù have won the Argentinean equivalent of the Grammy Awards for one of their telenovelas. In their small home town of Saladillo, in the heart of the pampas, the inhabitants are their actors: the young, good-looking cattlebreeder, the local healer, the newspaper seller, without forgetting, of course, family, friends and children. The filmmakers hange to a higher gear and make a terror film. They plan its opening night in an abandoned film theatre… providing they find a screen. The writing, shooting and editing of the telenovelas and ‘home-made’ popular feature films tell us a great deal about Argentinean reality.
