FASINPAT, Fábrica sin patrón

In the Patagonian province of Neuquén, workers from the Zanon ceramics factory oppose the management’s redundancy plan to try and prevent its closure in the face of recession. Since late 2001, the workers have occupied the premises and run the factory without their boss. At only 15% of production capacity, they have managed to take on some of the region’s unemployed. Nearly 100 factories have followed the example of the Zanon workers’s struggle and are now self-managed.
