This ancient place on the banks of the Mississipi river would be a Dakota camping site, a village, a center of industry, a great city, a slum, a ruin, a parking lot… What is left of the historic Gateway District of Minneapolis after an urban renewal project bulldozed every single building in twenty-four blocks, displacing 3000 residents and erasing all traces of these inhabitants? Photographs that make one think about loss, change and the notions of progress and renewal.
