This observational documentary looks at a day in the life of a ten year old boy, profoundly deaf since birth. Gareth participates in all the boyhood activities of his hearing friends, but in doing so he faces challenges not readily understood by those of the hearing world. The film suggests what it might be like to be deaf ; it shows the extent to which Gareth’s life differs from that of his friends, but shows also that he is very definitely capable of achievement at their level.
