Karspel 2

The film initially meant to focus on the decentralisation of a home for adolescents in an Amsterdam suburb. “Our preparation was long and intensive and we were in touch with the teenagers for 18 months. Our first footage was shot in 1988. Shortly afterwards there were unexpected developments. In view of certain problems, the management decided to shut down Karspel 2 and lodge the youngsters elsewhere-all within 48 hours. Shocked and furious, the youngsters decided to occupy Karspel 2 and called for the dismissal of their educators. We filmed the entire sequence of events that occured over three months.
