Kurz davor ist es passiert takes the form of a thriller. Five stories of the kidnapping and confinement of young women from Eastern Europe and Africa. We never see the young women, who disappeared into the night, behind the respectable façades of houses, in the corners and corridors of nightclubs, the bustle of the city, the limitless plains, the endless motorway traffic. All we hear is their story in the first person told by a customs officer, a house-to-house cosmetics sales rep, the manager of a nightclub, the Austrian lady consul to the Cameroon and a taxi driver. A risky choice but the result matches the audacity of such a choice. (Yann Lardeau)
