On 25th September 1983, Gladys Motta, who lives in a poor district in San Nicolás, announces that she has received a visit from the Virgin Mary… The country’s largest steelworks, and the town’s main industry, has gone bankrupt, while most of the population is unemployed. Yet, the town becomes a “sacred” tourist spot.
