La Linea paterna

A filmmaker finds family photos and films shot by his grandfather, who was a doctor in Papanta in the state of Veracruz where he had emigrated to at the beginning of the century. In 1924, Doctor Buil had ordered a Pathé Baby movie camera from Europe and used it to record family events, such as birthdays, communions, engagements… in which appeared his wife, his many sisters and his eight children. These long-neglected film reels bring back to life the 1920s and 1930s in a small Mexican town, famous for its vanilla plantations and voladores. The resurgence of a forgotten past, which reties the threads of the family history.
