Lanchas chilotas

1200 kilometres south of Santiago de Chile, in a cluster of islets at the foot of the Cordillera, the “lanchas”, boats inherited from the conquistadores are simultaneously tools, beasts of burden and means of transport. The sailors at the helm are themselves peasants, wood-cutters, fishermen and carpenters.
