I Cugini di Barbaghju

Lying between sea and mountain, Barbaggio is a Corsican village of the Nebbiu (mists), with its light, its climate and its own pace of life. Eighty-year-old Louis lives a reclusive life in the house of his ancestors, with no gas or electricity, on the heights overlooking the village. He is hard of hearing, and spends his time reading and rereading the books that have built up his perception of the world-Corneille, Crébillon, learned histories of Corsica and Mediterranean civilisations. Yet even though he has chosen this hermit-like existence, he looks forward to the visits of his cousin Jacques, who is his sole link with the outside world. Jacques is a wine-grower. Hunter and handyman, he lives for his land and his craft. However, he is beginning to worry about his isolated existence, since the younger generation does not seem to share the same interests as he.
