“Two kilometers from Paris La Défense, between Nanterre and Carrières-sur-Seine, there is a forgotten island on the river Seine, the Ile Fleurie. For many years, the deserted part of the Impressionists’ island was a refuge for people wanting to live cut off from the world. Today, Maria, her youngest daughter Béatrice and José, their farm hand, are the only ones left. Surrounded by their fields and animals, they have recreated the country life that they love in the face of a sprawling city. Maria and her family are spending their last days on the island.” (Isabelle Marina)
