In 1988, Annette Heunis hit the headlines in Odendaalrus, an ultra-conservative mining town in the state of Orange in South Africa. This 20-year-old-woman had left her family to marry and live with her black lover, Jerry Tsie. Three years later, a Dutch woman filmmaker, also married to a black man, arrived to find out about this famous love story. The whites she meets talk of a terrible drama. As for the black people, they consider Annette and Jerry as heroes.
