“On the outskirts of Buenos Aires, the ambitious Nordelta project is under construction. It is a huge, artificially created residential area, with rivers, lakes and woods, surrounded by a very high wire-netting fence and protected by countless guards. Soon, this ‘gated community’ will house 100 000 people. Adjacent to Nordelta, is the poor neighbourhood, Las Tunas. Every day some of the poor residents cross through the Nordelta checkpoints to work as maids or gardeners for their rich employers. Yet, the barrier of prejudice and paranoia is much stronger than the fence.” (Rouven Rech)
