Notes from the Underworld

There is unrest in the milieu of the Viennese underworld of the 1960s. In a controversial trial the singer Kurt Girk and his legendary friend Alois have to pay for their proximity to the illegal card game “Stoss” with long prison sentences. In calm black-and-white pictures the charismatic protagonists tell about this time from a position never shown before. The film is a declaration of love to a past Vienna as well as a moral picture of post-war Austria.
