Father and son meet up in São Paulo during the 2014 Word Football Cup after twenty years without seeing each other. In the popular cafés, garages and other anonymous places where tired, crackling television sets broadcast the matches, Simão and Sergio rarely talk about the past and make few comments on the games. Simão’s car with it broken radio provides an unexpected frame for this reunion, with no confession or forgiveness – the honesty of their words mingles with the distant murmur rising over the city from the stadium. Artfully losing sight of the autobiographical thread, the film maps out in these silences the possible space of an encounter between father and son. (Alice Leroy)
