Portrait of the film-maker’s grandfather, a retired engineer who devotes most of his time to looking after his vegetable garden, distributing to his neighbours two-thirds of its produce. He himself and those close to him define his personality and his ethic, which Max Weber calls the Protestant work ethic, characterized by the quasi-ontological value attached to work.
