In 1932, to carry out one of its major land development projects in the Pontin Marshes, the fascist regime organized the internal migration of landless peasants from the North. The newsreel and documentary footage shot at the time are intercut with interviews of people who lived the experience: a confrontation of life and propaganda, memory and manipulation.
