“Tierra y libertad”: such was the rally cry of Mexican revolutionaries around Zapata in 1917. Today it is the name of united groups of “colonias”, former peasants who converged to the outskirsts of Monterrey, in Northern Mexico, and occupy urban land while building their own type of society.
