The performance of the children’s opera Brundibar, is deeply moving for some of the audience for, fifty years earlier, it had provided a ray of light in the horror of the Terezin concentration camp where they had been interned as children. Using personal diaries and drawing, kept by three of the survivors, the filmmaker draws out their memories and follows them through the difficult post-war years until the present day, in the three countries where they have now settled with their families: the United States, the Czech Republic and Austria. She also shows to what extent this painful experience has affected the following generation.
