Beau comme un camion

“In my family, there are only manual workers. They have no qualifications, no education. I was destined to follow in their footsteps, but I continued my studies. This film shows how a family of manual workers put into question their perception of intellectual work. The generations fall into opposing camps. Some consider intellectuals as idle loafers, others think that schooling and books can help you «make it» in life. But make what? The filmmaker looks for the answer amongst his close family: why and how do you continue your studies in cinema when your brother piles up boxes of vegetables, your father drives trucks at night and your mother brings up other people’s children? Nobody feels totally at ease with such critical questions, which have social consequences, most certainly, and emotional implications, most likely (Antony Cordier)
