In 1991, Philippe de Pierpont made Birobezo, princes de la rue, in which he portrayed six children living in a gang in the streets of Bujumbura. Three years later, he returns to Burundi with a Hi 8 camera for the children. They have grown up, the gang has broken up and each has gone his own way. The town too has changed following the first free elections, the coup d’état and the ensuing massacres. Yet life continues and this is the subject of the film. No images of the conflict, just the six children talking about their daily life. But the surrounding insecurity and violence forcefully pervade the scenes from their imagination which Zorito films with his camera.
