CALIFORNIA ELECTION NEWS #1 ET #2

1934 United States 12 minutes English

Interviews supposedly filmed at random during the 1934 Californian election campaign. Irving Thalberg claimed responsibility for them, arguing that they were needed to beat the candidate Upton Sinclair. The choice of interviewees leaves little doubt as to the overall bias. These newsreels were apparently a determining factor in Sinclair’s defeat.
