Cet endroit c’est l’Iran
Iran, 12 June 2009. Denouncing the massive fraud during the presidential elections many Iranians took to the streets. The repressive backlash was violent: the foreign media were expelled, journalists were hunted down, with massive waves of arrests… For want of foreign TV cameras, the untruths aired on state television were countered by images ilmed by the demonstrators and Ahmadinejad’s opponents—with cell phones and still cameras. Cet endroit, c’est l’Iran is a montage of sequences that were difused over the Internet, which became the sole source of information for those on the outside. An unpolished testimony, and yet more than a testimony: a real-time relection on how a war of images took shape, which was vital for both sides, for the regime and its opponents. (Yann Lardeau)
