City of Tales

Los Angeles, after dark. Under the neon glow of service stations, the colourful flashes of blinking signage, or the gleam of distant fireworks, young men and women voice memories of a faraway city – Tehran – in a foreign language, as if possessed by the spirit of exiled Iranians. Their bodies have become hybrids of hosts and guests, and inhabit a world that the ghostly presence of another space-time has rendered unreal.
