“On Saturday, 29 September 1990, in Madrid, a man is on his way to work. His name is Antonio López and his job, which involves both manual and visual skills, is painting pictures. The filmmaker watches him work. Making no attempt to introduce false mystery or suspense, he simply shows all the gestures, techniques, organisation and routine which are needed to begin a new canvass. The painting will represent a quince-tree like the one growing in the yard of the painter’s house.” (Jean-Michel Frodon, Le Monde, 7 May 1993)
