Israël opus 40 – Description d’une génération
1992
France
93 minutes
French; Hebrew
The director, who has lived in France for the last fifteen years, returns to Israel, his home country, in the search of friends, former colleagues at the kibbutz at the end of the sixties. A certain picture of the state of Israel emerges through the testimonies of these nine people – how the country is perceived by first generation Israelis. The film reflects the diversity of routes taken by people who, twenty five years ago, shared the same values and ideals. The accounts of their experiences highlight the complexity and future of a nation and of Israeli identity.
