Je ne dirai rien

Claire Doutriaux
1988 Germany; France 44 minutes French; German

“This is a small anecdote taken from the vast history of the Second World War, no, actually, it’s a contemporary story whose origin lies in the war. In a fit of nostalgia, two German soldiers paint their native towns on the walls of a café in an occupied village in northern France. Fifty years later, the pictures are still there. The story of these pictures is the main thread of the film. Memory, resentment, sadness, emotion, joy : it’s on moments like these that history gets made for each one of us.” (Claire Doutriaux)
