Mort à  Vignole

Olivier Smolders
1998 Belgium 25 minutes French

Looking back on a family film made in Venice, a filmmaker inquires into the way in which images of a family come into play in stories about love and death. “What could be more heart-rending than the emotion which grips us when we look at shaky images bearing the marks of those who are no longer with us? The challenge with the film “Mort à Vignole” is to go beyond the case of a particular family, one that is neither more nor less interesting than any other, and take a deeper look at emotional memories, communities and ties”.
