For one month, Thierry Michel followed the members of humanitarian organisations and soldiers from the Belgian contingent at Kismayo, within the framework of the United Nations’ intervention in Somalia. He filmed the soldiers’ daily life, accompanying them on their day-to-day operations for peacekeeping and repatriation of Somalian refugees in their home villages. This film questions the validity, or not, of the first gigantic international militaro-humanitarian intervention under the UN flag. A humanitarian success or a suicidal quagmire, an army of liberation or an army of occupation, neo-colonialists or soldiers of peace…
