“Herbs” is one of the most popular bands in New Zealand today. They are an all-Maori band born out of a turbulent era in New Zealand social politics. The band decided to launch its new album in the remote rural town of Ruatoria, a highly visible, predominantly Maori town on the East Coast of New Zealand that has been under public scrutiny because of a series of confrontations between local Maori and Rastafarians. The Band’s hope is to draw these disparate elements together by providing a free concert to the town.
