In 1924 the Franz Weintraub (now Franz West) family went back to live in the Jewish community in the Leopoldstad area of Vienna. Franz was then 14 years old. By means of an account of his memories of his youth, of his roots, successes, failures, doubts, hopes, where personal and political life are intimately linked, Franz West revives for us, with the art of a story-teller, a long episode of the entire story of a population.
