Rokkasho ningenki

Akiko Kuraoka
1985 Japan 171 minutes undetermined

The little village of Rokkasho, on the Shimokita peninsula in Northern Japan, has undergone profound changes in the last 15 years. An oil refining complex which had replaced the potato fields and the fishing port has now been followed by a nuclear power station. This film, made over three years by filmmakers who come from Rokkasho, shows the changes in the mentalities and lifestyles of the inhabitants who tell their story.
