“One fine day in mid-August 1987, after a year of agonising silence, came the long awaited reply from the highest Soviet authorities : Yehudi Menuhin was invited to the Soviet Union. Everything had to be organised (…). I had to think about what I was going to do, how I was going to give the film solid from, dramatic construction, emotion and cinematographic expression (…)”.
