Kids of Survival
For over a decade, artist and educator Tim Rollins working with Puerto-Rican and Dominican teenagers in the south Bronx ara of New York, has made large-scale paintings which are now hanging in major museums around the world. The film follows the group’s progress through the production of six paintings by Tim Rollins and K.O.S. It tells the story of five boys, their day to day challenges, the slow progress, setbacks, and painful coming of age, as they try not to surrender to the dead end life on the streets. It shows how a small-scale programme can approach the mammoth task of inspiring at risk-children to empower themselves through education and the development of their innate talents.
