Gods speed you, Black Emperor

Mitsuo Yanagimachi
1976 Japan 91 minutes Japanese

Every Saturday evening, hundreds of bikers band together to hurtle through the streets of Tokyo. For more than two years, the film crew follows one of these gangs, known as the Black Emperor. After sharing the bikers’ existence, the crew gives an accurate picture of the group’s life – a picture which is far removed from the critical view of the man-in-the-street.
