1959 Japan 60 minutes Japanese

This film is the first Japanese documentary to be made in cinemascope, even before the process was used for fiction films. For eighteen months, the film crew followed the construction of a thermal power plant at Yokosuka, south of Tokyo. A dam, abandoned by the Navy, is used to help build a sea wall. The embankment work, the struggle against the typhoon and the dynamiting give rise to particularly spectacular images.
