Malika

Pierre Chosson
2003 France 51 minutes French

Wandering through different places and landscapes, Malika is a film that traces the journey of a young woman who disappeared in tragic circumstances. Yet, in the end, it is perhaps nothing more than the tale of a friend who is trying hard to remember and to understand, through images and words, why and how, ten years on, this anonymous death still speaks to him of the world’s coldness and life’s searing pain. In a way, Malika is not so much a story of a life and a death, than a filmic account of this journeying along with all its doubts and hopes. (Pierre Chosson)
